The Caligari Project
Based on the famous German Expressionist film "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (1921). It is considered one of the first horror films and one of the first murder mysteries. UNC Charlotte's adaptation was a workshop production that was part of the theatre department's 2023 Puppetry class. This show was the first time I had ever worked with puppets, and it opened my eyes to the beautiful world of puppetry. As a Puppeteer in the show, I learned how to make the puppets breathe and move realistically (which is a lot harder than it looks). The puppets, scenery, and script were made by our director and professor, Tom Burch. The cast and crew were phenomenal, and they were a joy to work with!
